Mr. Bonds Science Guys @ Lockeland Elementary  – The Science of Art

Young creatives are invited to explore the fascinating intersection of art and science.

Students will engage in hands-on activities that uncover the secrets behind color theory, chemistry, and the physics of light and sound. From making playdough to understanding ultraviolet light, our experienced instructors will guide kiados through a season of creative expression and scientific discovery. Join us for a session where imagination and curiosity meet, as we blend artistry and science to create masterpieces and explore the captivating world of artistic innovation!

Ceramics

Presented by Soul Ceramics

Clay Explorers Club

Get your hands messy (in the best way)! Students will learn the basics of hand-built pottery, pinch pots, coils, and slabs, while creating fun weekly projects that build real skills, spark creativity, and grow clay confidence.

Big imagination encouraged. Clay confidence included.

Aikido Club

(Presented by the Nashville Aikikai Youth & Family program)

Aikido is a powerful martial art, known as “the art of peace.” We don’t try to harm an attacker with a punch or kick. Instead, we protect ourselves by using an attacker’s energy against them. Students will learn how to “move to safety,” how to neutralize an attack, and how to keep a positive attitude no matter what other people are saying or doing. In addition to a variety of self-defense skills, students will also learn how to stay relaxed and fall gently.

Nature Club

School of Earth and Awe Nature Exploration

Learn about local, seasonal plants from their ecology to their lore! This semester will focus on edible and medicinal wild plants and each week will feature a plant “potion” like chickweed pesto, violet lemonade, plantain salve, or redbud syrup. Children will get to taste many wild plants.

Yoga Club

Led by yoga teacher and yoga therapist, Sarah Jane Chapman.

In these classes, we will practice movement and mindfulness through games and exercises. You children will grow in their confidence and trust in their bodies.

Running Club

Running Club is designed to promote physical activity in our kids and get them excited about pursuing a healthy lifestyle.  This program will focus on exercise through running or walking, healthy lifestyle choices, and setting and achieving goals..
